thanks to everyone who is following the blog. i’ve been out for a few days but i’ll be posting up a few new bands tonight. remember to re-blog / love the bands you like so they can get more exposure! thanks for your support.
I realized that for the sake of quality it was impractical to update this blog every single day with new bands. I’m also the only one that runs this and i’ve been a bit lazy. More tunes coming soon = ]
You are listening to “Autumn Leaves” by The New Limb ( also on Tumblr! http://thenewlimb.tumblr.com/). They are currently recording their debut full length album “Sounds People Can Hear”, expected to be released in January 2010. Follow their tumblr to read updates, look at photos, and watch videos of them throughout the process. They have a show in Fresno @ The Starline November 3rd, 9PM, All Ages, $5. Go see them live as it is what they are best known for!
"Their live performance comes off as creative, and fun, but most importantly natural. They’re not up there acting cool; they just are cool. They’re not acting super friendly after the show; they just really are super friendly! Both of these characteristics plus the actual musical talent of the four lovely Costa Mesa roommates makes for a killer combo."
-Kyle Deven, OC Arts and Culture
"It was cool being at [their Detroit Residency] show, because you could feel the momentum of a band about to hit it big. It wasn’t so long ago that Cold War Kids played this very venue, and I wouldn’t be surprised if The New Limb followed close behind." -Brax the Alien Rocker, braxcomics.com
Here is a cover of “The Weight” by The Band in their house a few weeks ago.
Have to agree with vandalmusic. Explosions in the Sky is a fucking incredible band. I would also recommend This Will Destroy You, 65daysofstatic, Russian Circles, & Red Sparrows if you are into this genre. Enjoy!
Five songs. 45 minutes. 100% emotion. This is another band that makes that unclassifiable style of music that places the emotional connection made when hearing the right notes at the right time, over the shallow connection made through lyrics that will always fall short of pure emotional connection. It sounds like I’m spewing bullshit. You’re saying ‘Its just an album.’ I challenge you to listen to this album, and tell me that you didn’t feel exactly the way the guys in Explosions In The Sky wanted you to. Fuck it. I dare you.
